Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair
Removal/Installation

1. Remove strut assembly. Mark position of upper mount in relation to strut. Scribe mark on upper mount to aid installation.
2. Using tool No. US 4475, or equivalent, compress coil spring.
3. Hold shock absorber shaft with hex key, then remove attaching nut.
4. Carefully release tension on spring compressor, then remove retainer, end collar and mount, rubber damper, bearing, upper spring seat and the coil

spring.

5. Inspect rubber components for deterioration, retainers and seats for cracks or distortion and bearing for binding. Replace if necessary.
6. Position coil spring onto strut and compress, using tool US 4475, or equivalent.
7. Install upper spring seat, bearing rubber damper, end collar and mount, then the retainer and nut. Tighten nut to specifications.
8. Remove spring compressor.
