Shift Interlock Cable: Adjustments

SHIFT INTERLOCK CABLE

NOTE:  Shift Interlock Cable can only be adjusted after it has been completely installed.

1. Access Shift Interlock cable and lever by removing console and shifter components as necessary.
2. Place shift lever in #1 position, then release cable clamp bolt.
3. Turn ignition switch to START position, then release.
4. Refer to Fig. 12 adjust dimension (a) between lever (1) and locking pin (2) to 0.025 - 0.030 inch.
5. Tighten cable clamp bolt.
6. Place selector lever into "P position and remove ignition key.
7. It must not be possible to remove ignition key with shift lever in any but "P position.
8. It must not be possible to move shift lever from "P position with ignition key removed.
