Tip:  The sides of the cowl panel must be inserted under the rubber strip of the cowl panel strip on the --A-- pillar (arrow).

Install engine wiring harness covers.

-

Install battery and battery tray (see Repair Manual Group 27) DO NOT connect battery ground (GND) at this time.

Install air cleaner housing (see Repair Manual Group 24).

WARNING:  

Ensure that there is no person inside the vehicle when connecting battery ground strap.

-

Connect battery ground (GND) strap.

-

Connect VAG 1551, VAS 5051 or VAS 5052 Scan Tool.

-

Check all systems for stored DTC's.

-

Erase any stored DTC's.

-

After connecting battery, check vehicle equipment (radio code, clock, electric windows) as per Repair Manual and/or Owner's Manual.

-

Program radio station presets.
