Procedure After Voltage Supply Open Circuit
If the voltage supply is interrupted, the engine control module loses all the "learned" and/or "basic" values. Therefore considerable driving characteristic
problems may occur depending on vehicle mileage.
Special tools equipment
-
VAG1551 scan tool or VAG1552 mobile scan tool with VAG1551/3B cable
Work sequence
Perform the following operations after voltage supply open circuit:
-
Switch ignition on for at least 10 seconds.
-
Switch ignition off.
-
Perform idling check. See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Idle Speed/Testing and Inspection
NOTE: During idling check the EVAP canister purge regulator valve and the air conditioner are switched off and the oxygen sensor control learning
procedure is initiated.
-
Perform a longer test drive until poor driving characteristics are eliminated.
Observe the valid safety precautions when carrying out a road test See: Computers and Control Systems/Service Precautions/Technician Safety
Information
During the road test the following operating conditions must be fulfilled:
-
The coolant temperature must exceed 80 °C.
-
When the temperature is reached, the operating conditions

component, a new adaptation must be performed.
-
If there are no authorized ignition keys available, new ignition keys must be prepared and adapted.
-
Secret number must be available, if not, see "Determining secret number".
-
Adaptation can be interrupted using the "C" key of the VAG 1551 scan tool.
Requirements
Authorized key available.
