Interior - Door Trim Panel Rattles on Rough Roads

Condition

Door Panel, Rattle

Customer concern that door trim panel rattle during driving conditions.

70 06 08 Nov.10, 2006, 2010535, Supersedes Technical Bulletin Group 70 number 04-01 dated October 25, 2004 due to inclusion into ElsaWeb.

Technical Background

This rattle, most noticeable on rough roads, may be due to excessive clearance between door frame and door trim panel.

Production Solution

Corrective measures beginning with VIN 9M_4M091692.

Service

On any door with above customer concern, modify trim panel as follows:

Front doors

-

Partially remove affected door trim panel (see Repair Manual Body Interior, Group 70 - Interior trim).

Tip:  Total door panel removal is not necessary.Partially remove (without disconnecting wire harnesses, cables etc.) to allow access to backside of
panel only.

Place 2 felts pads (Part No.191861390D) in locations shown (panel is shown totally removed for illustration purposes only).
