The function of intermittent wipers on vehicles with rain sensor is as follows:
With wiper switch in intermittent position -1-

If no rain is sensed on windshield, intermittent wiper will wipe once then stop.

The rain sensor, automatically shortens or lengthens the pause between wipes depending on how hard it is raining.

The four position switch -A- adjusts the sensitivity of the rain sensor.
