Battery Discharges
BATTERY DISCHARGES (Current Draw Suspected)
Test condition: Battery voltage OK
NOTE:

Use ammeter and/or digital multimeter Fluke 83 (US 1119) for all electrical checks

Possible causes of battery drain: Corroded and dirty contacts (connectors), Bare wires (stripped insulation), internal short circuits in components.
Does Not Charge While Driving
Checking Resistance for Pre-Exciter Circuit
NOTE:
-
When problem is "Battery does not charge" even though the warning lamp comes on when ignition is switched on and goes out when ignition is
switched off, check resistance of the pre-exciter circuit.

Use digital multimeter Fluke 83 (US 1119) and connector test kit VW 1594 for all electrical tests.
Checking
-
Battery voltage approx. 12V.

Remove blue wire connector (terminal 61) near starter, from securing clip and separate connector.
