Remove guard plate from between relay panel and pedal cluster as follows:
-

Remove electrical wires from retainers -arrow 1-.

-

Press snap detent -arrow 2- toward pedal cluster.

-

Press guard plate up toward instrument panel -arrow 3- until it can be removed from its retainers.

-

Remove guard plate from below, working carefully to avoid damage to wiring.

-

Insert screwdriver between steering column and clutch pedal and press it against over-center spring.

-

Depress clutch pedal and disconnect over-center spring from pedal in direction indicated by arrow.

INSTALLATION

Install spring in reverse order of removal, and note the following:
-

Install relay panel in left-hand side retainer before installing over-center spring.

-

Pull clutch pedal back into passenger compartment.

-

Guide over-center spring between pedal and relay panel holder until it is in bracket -arrow 1- while being pressed below clutch pedal support
-arrow 2-.

-

Press over-center spring onto pedal support, depressing clutch pedal slightly if necessary.

NOTE:

If clutch pedal operation is noisy (squeaks), lightly lubricate the spring contact points with lithium grease, refer to arrows -1- and -2- in
illustration above.

If the noise persists, also lubricate the internal sliding surfaces of the spring.
