Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation
Evaporative System Component Layout
The Evaporative Emission Frequency Valve (# 2 in image) is located on the right side of the engine compartment between the fender and the mass
airflow sensor.
The evaporative emission frequency valve regulates the amount of fuel vapors that enter the intake manifold from the EVAP Canister when the engine is
operating. The valve remains open when no current is applied (engine OFF).
The frequency valve will start to operate when the oxygen sensor starts working and operates via a duty cycle from the Motronic control module. The
duty cycle will vary depending on the engine temperature, engine load and speed.
