Piston ring

Check that it is correctly located

Installing, refer to Fig. 2, below.

Thrust washer

Piston

Sealing lips are vulcanized to the piston

Moisten sealing lips with ATF before installing

Turn piston slightly when installing

Bolt
-

Tighten to: 10 Nm (7 ft lb) plus and additional 1/8 turn (45°)

Stator support

Outer gear

Manufacturer's marking (arrow) faces stator support

-

If outer gear is incorrectly installed, the ATF pump may not operate freely in the installed position

Inner gear
-

Larger groove faces stator support

Housing for ATF pump

O-ring

Always replace

Torque converter oil seal

PROCEDURES

Ensure that ends of piston rings are hooked together.

Place piston ring in groove.

Press sides of ring in and guide ends over one another.

NOTE:  Do not twist piston ring out of groove on one side.
