Mounting Engine Sling

NOTE: If the clutch lever cannot be moved in the return direction, even after the clutch pedal has been operated several times, it is possible that
the mechanism has been damaged by mishandling (e.g. pulling on the cable casing).  A malfunctioning adjusting mechanism will cause improper
adjustment leading to clutch slippage and premature clutch wear.  
Replacement of the cable is avoidable.  The clutch adjusting mechanism can be restored to operation using the procedure that follows.

1. Mount engine sling 10-222A with adapter hooks 10-222 A/2.
2. Depress the clutch pedal and hold (will require the help of an assistant). The clutch release lever on the transmission is now in the operating

position.

3. Lock release lever in position using adapter hooks 10-222 A/2.
4. Pull clutch pedal back up to clutch-released position.

5. Pull clutch cable down (direction of arrow) until the adjusting mechanism in the area of the dust boot can be compressed.
6. Allow the clutch release lever to return to the clutch-released position.
7. Repeat functional check.
8. Remove engine sling 10-222A and adapter hooks.
