Test requirements

The respective fuses of Diesel-Direct fuel injection system must be OK:
-
Battery voltage must be at least 11.5 volts.
Test sequence
-
Disconnect 2-pin connector from Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Cooler Switch-over Valve -N345-, Overview of component locations.

Measure resistance between sensor terminals 1 + 2:
Specified value: 14 to 40 Ohms
If specified value is not obtained:
-
Replace Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Cooler Switch-over Valve -N345-.

Erase DTC memory of control module for Diesel-Direct fuel injection system, Diagnostic mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data. See: Computers

Diagnostic Data

If specified value is obtained:

Connect test box to control module wiring harness, connect test box for wiring test. See: Computers and Control Systems/Testing and
Inspection/Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes/Scan Tool Connecting/Test Box, Connecting For Wiring Test

Connect adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/39-2) to test box (V.A.G 1598/42).

Check for open circuits in wires between test box and connector according to wiring diagram.
