Valve Cover: Service and Repair
Cylinder Head Cover

Cylinder Head Cover

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque wrench 5-50 Nm (VAG 1331)

Removing

-

Remove the engine cover with air filter. Refer to --> [ Engine Cover with Air Filter ] See: Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Air Cleaner
Housing/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine Cover with Air Filter.

Disconnect the air hose for the crankshaft housing ventilation -  arrow -.

-

Remove the connecting pipe - A -.

-

Remove the ignition coils - 1 through 5 -. Refer to --> [ Ignition Coils with Power Output Stages ] See: Powertrain Management/Ignition
System/Ignition Coil/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement.

Remove the bolts for the cylinder head cover in reverse sequence -  16 to 1 -.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following: 

‹› Replace the cylinder head cover if damaged or leaking.
