Cut the heads of shear bolts so that two parallel surfaces remain - arrows -.

Remove bolts with locking pliers.

Insert a screwdriver - A - between protective housing and retaining plate - arrow -.

Use screwdriver - A - to pry protective housing upward, and then pull if off sideways from retaining plate - arrow -.

Release and pull off front connector - 1 - from Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) J220.

Pry retaining tab - 2 - slightly open.

Then, push Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) J220 out of retainer - arrow -.
-
Release rear connector from Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) J220 and pull it off.
