Press buttons -0-, -5- and -6- for "Display group number 56" and confirm entry with -Q- button.

Observe display in display zone 4 (4th digit from left).
Specification: xxx0x "Neutral"

Depress foot brake and select driving range. Observe figure displayed in display zone 4:
Specification: xxx1x "Driving range selected"

Press the -> button.

Press buttons -0- and -6- for function "End output" and confirm entry with the -Q- button.

Switch off ignition.

If the specifications are not obtained:

Checking CAN-bus matching resistor. Refer to "Computers and Control Systems/Information Bus". See: Computers and Control
Systems/Information Bus/Testing and Inspection

Check DTC memory, repair malfunctions if necessary and then erase DTC memory. Refer to "Displaying and Reading Trouble Codes/With
Manufacturer Scan Tool/DTC Memory Checking and Erasing",Under Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Testing and
Inspection. See: Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection

Read readiness code. If the DTC memory has been erased or the Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) -J220- was disconnected from battery
positive (B+), the readiness code must be generated again.
