Steering Gear: Service and Repair
Disassembly and Assembly

Power steering gear, assembly overview 

Power assisted steering gear is not serviceable. If complaints are received determine cause with the help of pressure tests, leak test and troubleshooting
program. If a malfunction exists replace power assisted steering gear.

Notes:

Replace self-locking nuts and bolts. Welding and straightening work on steering components is not allowed.

To grease the rack only use steering gear grease Part No. AOF 063 000 04.

Replace self locking nuts and bolts.

^

Type of oil: Hydraulic oil Part No. G 002 000

Oil system capacity: 0. 7... 0.9 Ltr (23 - 30 oz.). 

1. Tie rod end   
2. Hex nut, 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) 
3. Hose clamp
4. Boot

Must not be twisted after adjusting tie rod

^

Remove steering gear to replace 

5. Hose clamp
6. Tie rod

^

75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.) 

7. Clamp with rubber sleeve
8. Return line
9. Hex nut, 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.) 

10. Clamp with rubber sleeve

Arrow on clamp points forward
