Intake Manifold with Fuel Rail

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Oil filter wrench (3417)

‹› Multi point socket (T10347)

‹› Torque wrench 5-50 Nm (VAG 1331)

‹› Assembly Tool (T10118)

‹› If the intake manifold is to be replaced, the intake manifold runner position sensor must be adapted to the Engine Control Module (ECM).

Removing

‹› To access the fuel injectors, the intake manifold and the fuel rail with intake manifold runner control valve must be removed.

‹› The combustion chamber seal (Teflon) and the O-ring must always be replaced.

CAUTION!
Fuel system is under pressure! Before opening high pressure components of the fuel injection system, the fuel pressure must be relieved to
residual pressure, procedures. Refer to --> [ High Side Fuel Pressure Releasing ] See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air
Induction/Fuel Tank/Service and Repair/Procedures/High Side Fuel Pressure Releasing.

Remove the engine cover. Refer to --> [ Engine Cover ] See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Service and Repair/Engine Cover.

Remove the charge air pipe to the noise generator. Refer to --> [ Charge Air Pipe to Noise Generator ] See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery
and Air Induction/Turbocharger/Intercooler/Intercooler Duct/Service and Repair.

Clean the contact surface from the intake manifold to the cylinder head.

Remove the air filter. Refer to --> [ Air Filter ] See: Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Air Cleaner Housing/Service and Repair/Air Filter.

Disconnect the vent line - arrow - from the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister and disconnect the electrical connector on the EVAP canister
purge regulator valve.
