Rain/Light Recognition Sensor

If a Rain/Light Recognition Sensor (G397) is removed intact from retaining plate on windshield (e.g. to change the windshield), it can be reinstalled
later. If the windshield is cracked near or around the rain sensor, then the rain sensor cannot be re-used.

Store the removed Rain/Light Recognition Sensor (G397) protected from dust and make sure that the silicon connecting pads are not soiled up until
reinstallation.

Removing

Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.

Remove the interior rearview mirror..

Disconnect electrical connection - A - from Rain/Light Recognition Sensor (G397) - 1 -. 

‹› Not all rain sensors have a third cut-out. If the 3rd cut-out is not there, pry it out at a different location.

Pry the Rain/Light Recognition Sensor (G397) - 1 - with a suitable screwdriver at the cut-out -  3 - from the retaining plate - 2 -.
