Place the (VAG 1383A) under the wheel bearing housing.

First, remove the lower control arm from the ball joint studs, then remove the wheel bearing housing from the strut.

Installing

Installation is the reverse of removal, with special attention to the following:

Tighten the drive axle to wheel hub bolt, refer to one of the following: 

‹› If equipped with a hex bolt, refer to --> [ Drive Axle Hex Bolt, Loosening and Tightening ] See: Wheel Hub/Axle Nut/Service and Repair/Drive

‹› If equipped with a 12 point bolt, refer to --> [ Drive Axle 12 Point Bolt, Loosening and Tightening ] See: Wheel Hub/Axle Nut/Service and

Repair/Drive Axle 12 Point Bolt, Loosening and Tightening 

‹› When doing this, the vehicle must not rest on its wheels, otherwise the wheel bearing may be damaged.

If the wheel bearing housing was replaced, a vehicle alignment must be performed. Refer to --> [ Wheel Alignment ] See: Alignment/Service and
Repair/Wheel Alignment.

Install the wheel and tighten. Refer to --> [ Wheel Bolt Tightening Specification ] .
