Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
‹› Torque wrench 5-50 Nm (VAG 1331)
‹› Brake pedal actuator (VAG 1869/2)
Removing
Work procedure applies only for replacing or when performing subsequent service work on the brake caliper.

Remove the wheels.

Disconnect the electrical connector for brake pad wear indicator.

Connect the bleeder hose from the bleeder bottle to the bleeder valve on the brake caliper and then open the bleeder valve.

Insert the (VAG 1869/2).
-
Close the bleeder valve and remove the bleeder bottle.

Remove the brake hose.
-
Pull both cover caps from the bushings on the brake caliper.

Loosen both guide pins and remove them from the brake caliper.

Pull off the brake caliper from the brake carrier.
-
Remove the brake pads from the brake caliper.
Installing
‹› Piston is pressed back.
-
Insert the inner brake pad (piston side) - 1 - and the outer brake pad - 2 - with the retaining springs into the brake caliper.
‹› Inner brake pad (piston side) with large three finger clip - 1 -.
‹› Outer brake pad with small three finger clip - 2 - (colored black).
