Jetta Wagon L4-1.8L Turbo (AWP) (2005)
Checking wires to Transmission Control Module (TCM)
-
Connect test box to control module wiring harness. See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Reading
and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes/Scan Tool Connecting/With Generic Scan Tool/Test Box, Connecting For Wiring Test
-
Check for open circuits in wires between test box and 20-pin harness connector to Transmission Control Module (TCM) according to wiring
diagram.
Terminal 7 + socket 33
Terminal 8 + socket 34
Wire resistance: max. 1.5 Ohms
-
Check wires for short circuit to each other, to vehicle Ground (GND) and to B+.
Specified value: Infinite Ohms
If no malfunctions are found in wires:
-
Check resistance of Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor -G93-.
Check sensor resistance
-
Re-connect 20-pin connector.
-
Measure resistance of Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor -G93- at test box between sockets 33 +34:
ATF temperature
Specified value
approx. 30 degrees C
2.2 KOhms
approx. 70 degrees C
0.5 KOhms
approx. 110 degrees C
0.2 KOhms
-
Check wires between test box sockets for short circuit to Ground (GND) and short circuit to B+ according to wiring diagram:
Socket 1 + 33
Socket 1 + 34
Socket 33 + 68
Socket 34 + 68
Specified value: Infinite Ohms
If specified values are obtained:
-
Replace Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217-.
If one of the specified values is not obtained.
-
Check internal wire in valve body.
If no malfunctions are found in the internal wires:
-
Replace Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor -G93-.
