Removing windscreen (Cabriolet)
–  Remove roof cross member inner trim → General body repairs, interior; Rep. Gr.70.
–  Remove rain sensor, if necessary → Chapter
–  Unbolt wiper arms (M8 hexagon nuts = 20 Nm).
–  Pull off plenum chamber outer cover.
–  Release sealing lip from window flange along top edge of windscreen and along A-pillars with a plastic wedge and spray in cleaning solution -D 009 401 04- (lubricant).
–  Place cutting thread in window flange with help of tube (cutting wire may also be used).
–  If gap is too small, guide cutting cord on outside and push under lip with a plastic wedge.
   
–  Pull the end of the cutting thread through the adhesive seal material into the vehicle interior with the awl (from -V.A.G 1474 A -).

–  Secure one end of the cord to the reel device -V.A.G 1654 -.
–  Pull second cord end into vehicle and counterhold with pulling handle from -V.A.G 1351-.
–  Apply the reel device -V.A.G 1654- to “position I”.
–  Move reel device according to position required and cut windscreen free.
–  Use plastic wedge to press cutting cord against window glass while cutting in order to have clearance at window flange and dash panel.
