Engine Control Module, Replacing
Removing
-
Print out control module identification and thereby previous control module coding.
NOTE: If display does not correspond to the control module version installed in the vehicle, replace the control module. For latest part number
for engine control modules Electronic parts catalog "ETKA"

Switch off ignition.
-
Remove plenum chamber inner cover on left side.
-
Carefully press off retaining tab - arrow -.
-
Release connector from control module and disconnect connector.
-
Remove control module.
Installing
-
Connect connector on control module and lock.
-
Place new control module into retaining frame.
-
Code control module in "guided fault finding" and adapt it to electronic immobilizer and to throttle valve control module.
Vehicles with cruise control system (CCS)
-
Check that cruise control system is activated and activate if necessary.
Vehicles with automatic transmission
-
Learn kickdown switch point.
-
Adapt control module for automatic transmission.
Continuation for all models
-
Interrogate Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory of engine control module and, if necessary, correct fault(s) and erase DTC memory.

If necessary road test vehicle.
Observe applicable safety precautions during road test.
During the road test the following operating conditions must be fulfilled:

Coolant temperature must exceed 80 degrees C.

When temperature is reached, operating conditions, as follows, must be attained several times:

Idling
-
Part throttle
-
Wide open throttle
-
Overrun
-
Interrogate DTC memory of engine control module and, if necessary, correct fault(s) and erase DTC memory.
