EGR Electronic Vacuum Regulator Solenoid: Service and Repair

Exhaust Gas Return Vacuum Regulator Solenoid Valve

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

‹› Wet and dry vacuum (VAS 5128)

‹› Brush with plastic bristles

‹› To prevent damaging the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve when cleaning, do not use any solvent-containing cleaners or fuels or sharp-edged

tools or any metal tools.

Removing

-

Disconnect the EGR valve connector and remove the mounting bolt. 

-

Carefully remove the EGR valve from its seat.

-

Use a brush with plastic bristles to clean the rusty surfaces on the exhaust gas return valve seat. Then remove loose rust with a cloth.

Line inner intake manifold with a lint-free cloth to protect against soot particles.

-

Clean the exhaust gas return valve seat in the intake manifold using a brush with plastic bristles and a cloth. Make sure no rust particles get into the
intake manifold.

Take the cloth out of the intake manifold and clean the intake manifold with a wet and dry vacuum (VAS 5128) if necessary. 

Installing

-

Replace the EGR valve O-ring.

-

Carefully place the EGR valve in the seat in the intake manifold, and tighten the bolts to 10 Nm.
