Measure voltage supply between connector terminals 1 + 3:

Specified value: approx. 5.0 V

Switch ignition off.

If specified value is not obtained:

-

Check wires to Diesel Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) Engine Control Module (ECM) -J248- according to wiring diagram.

If specified value is obtained:

-

Connect test box (1598/42) to Diesel Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) Engine Control Module (ECM) -J248- wiring harness using adapter cable
(V.A.G 1598/39-1), connecting test box for wiring test.

Check for open circuit in wires between test box and 6-pin connector according to wiring diagram.
Terminal 5 + socket 24

Wire resistance: max. 1.5 ohms

-

Check wire for short circuit to vehicle Ground (GND) and to B+.

Specified value: infinity ohms

If no malfunctions are found in wire:

-

Replace EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid Valve -N18- with Potentiometer for EGR - G212-, item 6.

Erase DTC memory of Engine Control Module (ECM), Diagnostic mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data. See: Powertrain Management/Computers
and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Scan Tool Testing and Procedures/Diagnostic Mode 04 - Erase DTC Memory

Perform a basic setting of EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid Valve -N18- with Potentiometer for EGR -G212-.

Generate readiness code. 

Check wires to control module

-

Connect test box (1598/42) to Diesel Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) Engine Control Module (ECM) -J248- wiring harness using adapter cable
(V.A.G 1598/39-1), connecting test box for wiring test.
