V.A.G 1526 multimeter or V.A.G 1715 multimeter

Requirements
-
Respective fuses must be OK: Electrical Wiring Diagrams, Troubleshooting & Component Locations
-
Selector lever must be in -P- position.
-
All electrical consumers such as, lights and rear window defroster must be switched off.
-
Parking brake must be engaged or else daylight driving lights will be switched on.
-
Ground (GND) connections to transmission must be OK.
-
Ignition switched off.
Test sequence
-
Disconnect 12-pin harness connector at transmission.
Observe safety precautions.
-
Check harness connector for contact corrosion and ingress of water.
If harness connector is not OK:
-
Repair the malfunction.
-
Erase DTC memory of Transmission Control Module (TCM), Diagnostic mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data. See: Powertrain

Memory

Generate readiness code.
If harness connector is OK:
-
Check resistance of solenoid valves.

Re-connect 12-pin connector.

Connect test box to control module wiring harness, connect test box for wiring test.
-
Measure resistance of solenoid valves at test box between sockets:
NOTE: Resistance value is valid at approx. 20 degrees C. At higher temperatures, resistance value increases.
If one of the specified values is not obtained:
-
Check wires to Transmission Control Module (TCM) according to wiring diagram.

Disconnect 12-pin harness connector at transmission.
