Thermostat, removing and installing

Special tools and equipment

T10007 Refractometer

VAG1306 Drip tray for VAG 1202A

^

VAG1331 Torque wrench 5 to 50 Nm (3 7 to 37 ft. lbs.), or equivalent

^

VAS 5024 Assembly tool for spring-type clip or VAG1921 Hose clip pliers

Removing

Note:  Always replace O-rings, seals and gaskets.

Drain coolant

-

Disconnect coolant hose from connecting flange -3-.

-

Unscrew mounting bolts -4- of connecting flange -3- and remove connecting flange -3- with thermostat -1-.
