Headliner, Loose Around Rear Glass

-

Headliner is loose around the rear glass opening in one of the following conditions:

1. Headliner rear window beading fits snug but still comes loose from the rear glass metal insert channel.
2. Headliner rear window beading fits loosely and comes loose from the rear metal insert channel.

Technical Background

Plastic ring is out of specification.

Production Solution

Implementation of 18 silver clips (1Y0871234A).

Headliner snug fit

Decide which condition as listed above exists.

-

Follow the appropriate repair for the condition.

1. When the headliner beading for the rear glass fits snug but still comes out of the rear glass groove:

-

Remove beading (white arrow) from rear glass by carefully pulling / prying it from the groove of the metal insert channel on the back glass
(take care not to damage headliner).

Install 18 clips Part No: 1Y0871234A (silver) around the headliner beading (1 at each notch (black arrow) cut into the beading as follows:
