Axle Beam: Service and Repair
Rear Axle Beam, Assembly Overview

Rear axle beam, assembly overview 

Note:  Do not attempt to weld or straighten the axle beam or the stub axle.

Always replace self-locking nuts.

1. Wheel bolt

120 Nm (89 ft. lbs.) 

2. Phillips-head screw

^

4 Nm (35 inch lbs.) 

3. Brake disc
4. Dust cap

Always Replace

^

Proper function and long service life can only be ensured by the perfect seal of a new dust cap

^

Pressing off and driving in from 42-31

5. Self-locking 12-point nut

^

Always replace

^

175 Nm (129 ft. lbs.) 

6. Wheel hub with wheel bearing and rotor

^

Always replace

^

Wheel bearing, wheel hub and the rotor are installed together in one housing.

^

Wheel bearing/hub unit is maintenance and adjustment free. Adjusting and servicing are not possible!

7. Hex head bolt,

60 Nm (44.3 ft. lbs.)
