Condition

Convertible Top Not Operating Properly

Technical Background

Possible causes for convertible top not operating properly include, but are not limited to:

Window motor basics not set after disconnecting and reconnecting the vehicle battery.

(After vehicle battery is disconnected it is necessary to reset the basics of the window motors. A symptom of this is no operation of window
one-touch up / down feature. Refer to repair manual for setting basics procedure).

Overload protection is active in the roof control module.

(If the convertible top is opened and closed repeatedly in a short time span, the convertible top operating system can be protected by a circuit
breaker. If the convertible top operating system is being protected from overload by the circuit breaker, it can take up to 37 minutes for system to
reset).

General fault in system.

No production change required.

Service

1.

Perform the window learning/synchronizing and setting pinch protection procedure, see repair manual 64 - Glass, Windows, Door windows,
Electrical comfort window regulator (automatic run-up and run-down) with pinch protection.

2.

Allow 37 minutes for system to reset, and check operation again (this is not a warrantable condition).

3.

If necessary, follow guided fault finding and use applicable SRI.
