Now check for leaks and residual pressure (entire system). Observe pressure drop on the (VAG 1318). After 10 minutes, at least 3.0 bar positive
pressure must remain.

If the residual pressure drops below 3 bar:

-

Start the engine and let run at idle.

-

Wait until pressure has built up, then switch off the ignition. Shut off lever on the (VAG 1318) must be closed at the same time (lever
perpendicular to direction of flow - arrow  -).

Observe pressure drop (engine side) on the (VAG 1318 ).

If pressure drops again:

-

Check line connections to the fuel rail and injectors for leaks.

-

Check the (VAG 1318) for leaks.

‹› Before removing the (VAG 1318), place clean cloths around line connection which is to be disconnected.

If the pressure does not drop:

-

Check the fuel pump check valve. Refer to => [ Fuel Pump Check Valve, Checking ] See: Testing and Inspection/Fuel Pump Checking, Engine
Code BPR (Metal Fuel Tank).

Check the fuel pressure regulator. Refer to => [ Fuel Pressure Regulator, Checking ].

‹› Fuel pump check valve OK, checking. Refer to => [ Fuel Pump Check Valve, Checking ] See: Testing and Inspection/Fuel Pump Checking,

Engine Code BPR (Metal Fuel Tank).

‹› Fuel supply line OK.

CAUTION!
Fuel system is under pressure!

‹› Wear protective goggles and protective clothing to prevent injuries and contact with skin.

‹› Before loosening the line connection, place a cloth around the connection point. Then release pressure by carefully loosening the line

connection.

Disconnect the fuel supply line - 3 - and catch the leaking fuel with a clean cloth.
