‹› Residual material acts as a base for the new adhesive sealing material. Keep adhesive surface free of dirt and grease.

‹› Activator must not come into contact with the paint - otherwise paint will be damaged.

Exception: If bonding is not performed immediately after cutting back, the remaining material must be activated using the Activator ( D 181 801 A1).

‹› If body flange is being worked on or is partially replaced, it must be cleaned and primed again after painting the corresponding area.

Removal and Replacement

Removing

Remove inner roof crossmember trim. 

-

If necessary, remove rain sensor, refer to => [ Rain Sensor ]. See: Windows/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Flush-Bonded
Windows

Remove wiper arms (hex nuts M8 = 20 Nm).

Remove outer plenum chamber cover.

Remove sealing lip in upper area of windshield and along A-pillars from window flange using a plastic wedge, and spray with cleaning solution (D
009 401 04) (as a substitute for lubricant).

Using tube, insert cutting cord into window flange (cutting cable can also be used).

-

For very narrow gap dimensions, guide cutting cord from outside and press under lip using plastic wedge.

-

Push cutting cord end through adhesive sealant into vehicle interior using awl (from (V.A.G 1474 A )).
