Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair

Coil Spring, Removing and Installing 

Removing 

-

Using VAG1752 suspension strut tensioner, compress coil spring until upper spring plate is free.

-

Remove hex nut from piston rod.

-

Remove components of suspension strut and coil spring using VAG1752 suspension strut tensioner.

1. Commercially available ratchet handle
2. T10001/8
3. T10001/11
4. T10001/5
5. VAG1752 suspension strut tensioner
6. VAG1752/4 retainer

3186 special socket wrench 21mm can be used instead of the tools listed above.

WARNING: 

-

Make sure that the coil spring is seated correctly in the VAG775217 spring holder (arrow). 

Installing 

-

Install coil spring using VAG1752 suspension strut tensioner onto lower spring support.

-

End of coil spring must lie against stop (arrow).
