Set engine speed to 1800 to 2200 RPM using speed regulator VAG 1 788/10:

Maintain engine speed at 1800 to 2200 RPM until display in display zone 3 jumps from
"Test OFF" to "Test ON".

Continue to maintain speed at 1800 to 2200 RPM until specification
"Syst. OK" appears in display zone 3.
If the display does not indicate as described:
-
Remove engine speed adjuster VAG 1788/10 from accelerator pedal.

Press ~button.
Indicated on display

Press buttons -0- and -6- for function "End output" and confirm entry with -Q- button.

Switch ignition off.
If "Syst. "OK" appears in display zone 3:

Read DTC memory.
If the DTC 17927 appears, it may be because:
The camshaft adjuster solenoid valve correctly switches oil pressure to the mechanical camshaft adjuster but it cannot reach its end position (e.g.
tight/partially seized).

Replace camshaft adjuster.

Check DTC memory:

Read readiness code:
If the DTC memory has been erased or the Engine Control Module separated from permanent (battery) positive, the readiness code must be generated
again.

Repeat functional check.
If the specification is not attained:

Check wiring for open/short circuit between Engine Control Module to camshaft adjuster solenoid valve using wiring diagram:

If no wiring problem is detected:

Replace Engine Control Module:
