Interrogating control unit version

–	Switch on ignition.

–	Press key -1- for operating mode “Rapid data transfer”.

Indicated on display:

–	Press keys -1- and -5- (the address word of the vehicle system to be tested “Airbag” is entered with 15).

–	Confirm entry with Q key.

t	Top line: part number of control unit, system designation (AIRBAG -VW 2-), version number

t	Bottom line: code number (dealership number → Note

¹⁾	Will be automatically stored in control unit on intervention in system.

–	Press → key.

t	If one of the fault messages opposite appears in the display, the possible causes of the fault can be printed out with the HELP key.

t	(The ignition must be switched on!)

K wire not switching to positive!

t	Faults have occurred at the start of or during the program (external cause of malfunction?).

No signal from control unit!

t	Check diagnosis leads, voltage supply and earth connection.

–	After rectifying the possible causes of the fault, once again enter the address word 15 for “Airbag” and confirm with the Q key.
