Special tools, testers, measuring instruments and auxiliary items required

  • ◆ Fault reader V.A.G 1551 or vehicle system tester V.A.G 1552 with cable V.A.G 1551/3
  • ◆ Single ended ring spanner e.g. Hazet 4561

Removing

  • ‒ Remove dash panel and pedal cluster cover.
  • ‒ → Remove accelerator pedal -11-.
  • ‒ Remove altitude sender -2-. Loosen securing screw -1- with a single end ring spanner e.g. Hazet 4561.
  • ‒ Remove accelerator pedal position sender -4- with console -5-, to do this remove both securing nuts -16- with 1/4" drive tools.
  • ‒ Remove cable cam -6- and unbolt sender from console.

Installing

  • ‒ Secure accelerator position sender to console.

  • ‒ → Secure cable cam to sender so that the dimensions shown are adhered to when facing forwards.
         a = 22 ±0.05 mm
         b = 41±0.05 mm
         c = Forwards

Note:

The cable cam eye must be parallel to the forward direction.

  • ‒ Install sender with console.
  • ‒ Install altitude sender.
  • ‒ Install accelerator and fit the cable cam eye on the accelerator pin.
