Special tools, testers and auxiliary items

  • ◆ Hand pump V.A.G 1274
  • ◆ Adapter V.A.G 1274/1 A
  • ◆ Adapter V.A.G 1274/2
  • ◆ Hose clip

Test sequence

V23-0132
  • ‒ Run engine at idling speed and open the throttle several times to remove any air which may be in the system.
  • ‒ Disconnect return pipe from injection pump.
  • ‒ → Secure adapter pipe to the injection pump in place of the return pipe.
  • ‒ Clamp-off supply pipe at fuel tank with a hose clamp.
  • ‒ Using tester hand pump build-up a pressure of
         1.0 ... 1.5 bar.
It may be necessary to pump up the system several times because of air which may be in the system.
  • ‒ If the pressure constantly drops, locate leak and eliminate fault.

Notes:

  • ◆ The fault can be localised by repositioning the hose clamp, e.g. to in front of the fuel filter.
  • ◆ The return pipe can be pressurized by connecting the adapter to the injector supply pipe. Then the return and supply pipes at the fuel tank as well as the supply pipe at the fuel filter outlet must be disconnected.
