Checking air mass meter potentiometer
  • ● Coolant temperature above 80 °C (display group 01, display zone 2)
  • ‒ Connect fault reader V.A.G 1551 and select engine electronics control unit (address word 01); selection is carried out with engine idling.
 
→ Indicated on display:
Rapid data transfer     HELP
Select function XX
  • ‒ Input 08 for "Read measured value block" function and confirm with Q.
 
→ Indicated on display:
Read measured value block     HELP
Input display group number XX
  • ‒ Input 03 for display group 03 and confirm with Q.
 
→ Indicated on display:
(1...4 = Display zones)
Read measured value block 3     ⇒
     1     2     3     4

Note:

If something different is indicated on the display:

=> Fault reader operating instructions

  • ‒ Read off displayed figure in display zone 4.
         Specification: 10...30 % at idle
  • ‒ Press ⇒ key.
  • ‒ Input 06 for "End output" and confirm with Q.

If the specification is not attained or is exceeded:

  • ‒ Check idling speed stabilization => Page 24-30 .
  • ‒ Check air intake system for leaks
    => Page 24-54 .

If no fault is found:

  • ‒ Renew air mass meter => Page 24-8 , item 11 and perform idling check.
