• ● No faults stored in fault memory
  , interrogating fault memory
• ● Engine oil temperature min. 80 °C
• ● Ignition timing OK., checking

• ‒ → Connect ignition tester V.A.G 1367 with pick-up clamp V.A.G 1367/8 or ignition tester V.A.G 1767.
• ‒ Start engine and run at idling speed.
• ‒ Set ignition tester to 3000 rpm.
• ‒ Slowly increase speed to slightly above 3000 rpm until the ignition timing (advance figure) is indicated.
       Specification:
       Engine code AAM: 30...38 ° before TDC
       Engine code ABS: 36...44 °before TDC

If the ignition timing does not advance:

• ‒ Carry out electrical check => Page 01-20 , if necessary renew Mono-Motronic control unit (J257).
