Special point regarding vehicles with ABS/EDL
Special point regarding vehicles with ABS/EDL
When one chamber in the brake fluid reservoir is completely empty (e.g. leaks in brake system) the hydraulic unit must be bled with fault reader -V.A.G 1551- in function “basic setting”.
  WARNING
When using brake charge and bleed equipment -V.A.G 1869- to replenish the brake fluid, make sure that filling pressure does not exceed 1 bar.
For this reason the brake fluid pressure must be reduced to 1 bar on the brake filling and bleeding equipment -VW 1238/1- and -V.A.G 1869- → Operating Manual VW 1238/1 or V.A.G 1869.
The brake filling and bleeding equipment -V.A.G 1238 B- is not suitable for bleeding the brake system using the function “Initiate basic setting”.
If this is the only equipment available, the brake filling and bleeding equipment -V.A.G 1238 B- must be switched on and off as appropriate to ensure that there is always sufficient brake fluid in the reservoir.
If the filling pressure exceeds 1 bar it cannot be guaranteed that the hydraulic unit is bled sufficiently.
Initiate basic settings → Running gear self-diagnosis; Rep. Gr.01.
