Installing > < Removing right drive shaft

Passat (B3)

Removing left drive shaft

–  Install support bracket.
  N40-0027
–  Remove bolt -arrow- for rear gearbox mounting.
  N40-0028
–  Remove bolt -arrow- for front engine mounting.
–  Raise engine/gearbox assembly.
–  Only loosen drive shaft hexagon nuts when vehicle is standing on wheels.

–  Unbolt drive shaft from gearbox flange shaft.
Remove bolts -arrows- to remove drive shaft.
  Note
First mark installation position.

–  Swing wheel outwards (insert wooden block or similar between suspension strut and wheel housing if necessary).
–  Push engine and gearbox forwards and remove drive shaft.
