The following points of information are to be used as a guide to assist in properly repairing an engine misfire concern ONLY after Guided Fault Finding
(GFF) results are found to be inconclusive.
Technical Background
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is illuminated and Engine Control Module (ECM) recognizes misfiring on one or more cylinders.
Incomplete or failing combustion leads to inconsistent crankshaft rotation.

Are other fault entries logged?
If there are other entries on engine misfiring, they must be diagnosed first.
Perform available GFF test plans. If results are inconclusive, or test plans are not available, continue with this technical bulletin.

Do other Technical Bulletins apply?
Perform a bulletin search of engine misfire or related symptom technical bulletins to investigate as to whether or not they apply to the vehicle.

Can the misfire be reproduced?
