Torque converter is welded and must be replaced if damaged.

In case of soiling of the ATF via shavings or during a major transmission overhaul, torque converter must be drained as follows:

Extract ATF using oil extraction device V.A.G1358A and oil extraction sensor V.A.G1358A/1 from torque converter.
