Clutch Slave Cylinder: Service and Repair

Slave cylinder, removing and installing, 012/01W, 5 SPD. M/T

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench 5-50Nm V.A.G. 1331

Lithium grease G 052 150 A2

^

Copper grease Z 381351 TE

Removing
^

Remove noise insulation panel below transmission.

^

If necessary, remove exhaust pipe with catalytic converter.

^

Remove bolt - arrow -, remove slave cylinder to rear.

Do not press clutch pedal after clutch slave cylinder has been removed.

To remove hose/line assembly, pry clip - A - out until stop using screwdriver. Only after this, hose/line assembly can be removed.

Transmission must be free of brake fluid. If necessary, clean transmission housing.

Installing

  Installation is the reverse of removal, noting the following:

Transmission must be free of brake fluid. If necessary, clean transmission housing.

Replace securing bolt for slave cylinder. 

^

Coat contact surface of clutch release lever plunger with a thin layer of copper grease Z 381 351 TE.
