Check release bearing with installed plastic ring

Replace if grooves are too deep

Let retaining tabs on release bearing engage into release lever

Before installing, coat contact surface for plunger of clutch slave cylinder thinly with copper grease Z 381 351 TE
10. Retaining spring

Secure to clutch release lever

Installation position: Oil drain hole points downward

14. Ball stud, 25 Nm

Lubricate with grease MoS2
15. Transmission
Repairing release bearing with bonded plastic ring
On release bearings with plastic ring, it is possible that the plastic ring loosens from release bearing when removing transmission or release bearing.
Therefore, release bearing does not need to be replaced.

Before installing transmission, re-glue loose plastic ring to bearing ring with adhesive AMV 195 KD1 01.
3 rectangular tabs - arrows - of plastic ring reach into cutouts of bearing ring.
If plastic ring has grooves deeper than 0.8 mm on contact surface, release bearing must be replaced.
Checking release bearing with installed plastic ring
Characteristic: Plastic ring with retaining tabs - arrows - along circumference.

Release bearings with loosened plastic ring - 1 - must be replaced.

If grooves - arrow 2 - on plastic ring - 1 - are deeper than 0.8 mm, release bearing - 3 - must be replaced.
