Test requirements
-
Respective fuses in fuse box must be OK
-
Battery voltage must be at least 11.5 volts.
-
All electrical consumers such as, for example, lights and rear window defroster must be switched off.
-
Parking brake must be engaged.
-
Selector lever must be in -P- position.
-
Ground (GND) connections to transmission must be OK.
-
Ignition switched off.
Test sequence
-
Disconnect 16-pin harness connector -2-.
Observe safety precautions.
-
Check harness connector for contact corrosion and ingress of water.
If harness connector is not OK:
-
Repair the malfunction.
-
Erase DTC memory of Transmission Control Module (TCM). Diagnostic mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data. See: Powertrain
Management/Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Scan Tool Testing and Procedures/With Generic Scan Tool/Diagnostic
Mode 4: Reset/Erase Diagnostic Data
-
Generate readiness code. See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Monitors, Trips, Drive Cycles and
Readiness Codes
If harness connector is OK:
-
Check resistance of Solenoid Valve 4 -N91 - through Solenoid Valve 7 -N94- and Pressure Control Valve 1 for Auto. Transmission -N215-
through Pressure Control Valve 4 for Auto. Transmission -N218- at 16-pin connector to transmission.
Checking resistance of solenoid valves and pressure regulator valves
-
Check resistance of solenoid valves and pressure regulator valves between terminals at 16-pin connector to transmission:
