Fuel Reservoir: Description and Operation
Fuel Delivery Components
The Fuel Reservoir is located under the rear of the vehicle mounted to the same bracket as the fuel pump, fuel accumulator and fuel filter. The fuel inlet
portion of the main fuel pump is mounted inside the fuel reservoir for direct access to the fuel stored in it. The fuel reservoir is used to receive fuel from
the transfer pump inside the fuel tank, then supply fuel to the main fuel pump for pressurization. On cars with CIS-E Motronic fuel injection there is an
additional check valve at the Fuel Reservoir, in the supply line from the transfer pump. This valve is also replaceable. It should be replaced if hot start
problems persist, even though the residual fuel pressure meets specifications.
