Front Door Window Regulator: Service and Repair

Window Regulator

For access to the window regulator, first remove the interior trim panel and the plastic moisture barrier from the door. Refer to Door Panel  See: Body
and Frame/Doors, Hood and Trunk/Doors/Front Door/Front Door Panel/Service and Repair
On cars so-equipped, remember to disconnect the harness connectors for the power mirrors, central locking system and power windows. Refer to
above figure. Installation of the regulator is the reverse of removal. Remount the window glass as described in the next procedure below.

To remove regulator

1. Lower the window.
2. Remove the two bolts that mount the window glass carrier to the window regulator.
3. Raise the glass to the top and use tape or some equivalent means to secure it and keep it from falling.
4. Remove the bearing sleeve from the regulator shaft.
5. Remove the bolts that mount the regulator to the door frame.
6. Lift the regulator to free it from the bottom mount lugs, and remove it.

To mount window glass

1. Install guide arm rail to guide rail. See figure above.
2. Mount the glass carrier to the window regulator. Install the bolts snugly, but not fully tight.
3. Run the window all the way to the top to align it.
4. Lower the window slowly until the glass carrier mounting bolts are visible through the holes in the door frame, then tighten the bolts. The holes in

the door frame are shown in figure.
