Power Steering Pump: Service and Repair
For 6-Cylinder 5-Valve, Removing and Installing

Power steering pump for 6-cylinder 5-valve, removing and installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose clamps 3094

^

Drift 3204

^

Torque wrench V.A.G1331

-

Remove engine cover.

-

Pull ignition cables out of ignition coils.

-

Remove hex bolts - arrows A - and double bolt - arrow B

-

Lay ignition coils aside.

-

Identify direction of rotation of poly-V belt

-

To relieve tension on ribbed belt, push hex socket head wrench (10 mm AF) - direction of arrow

-

Align hole - A - with hole - B -

-

Insert locking pin 3204 to secure.

-

Take ribbed belt off belt pulley.

-

Remove belt pulley from power steering pump, using water pump wrench V.A.G 1590 to counter-hold if necessary.

-

Remove hex bolt - arrow - for pressure line - 1

-

Place oil tray under vehicle.

-

Clamp off suction hose with hose clamp 3094 .
