Unscrew bolts -B-.

Remove heat shield -C-.

Remove transmission mounting -D- and -H-.

The left and right-hand transmission brackets -E- remain on the transmission.

Place drip tray VAG 1306 or equivalent underneath.

Unscrew bolts -1- to -14- on housing cover for front axle drive.

Carefully detach housing cover for front final drive from transmission housing. Otherwise gear wheels can drop out of transmission.

Gear wheels which have been dropped on the floor must not be used again. If this happens, the transmission must be replaced.

Lift up housing cover for front axle drive.
